Landscapes in pastel pencils and sticks and a robin in graphite and white charcoal!

I am super pleased with how these pastel horse portraits turned out! I had a holiday break of learning how to use pastel pencils and create something that wasn’t embarrassing. 🙂
The positives of pastel pencils are the color saturation and realism; the negative is that they smudge quite easily. Pastel pencils are also harder to sharpen as opposed to colored pencils.
I hope everyone enjoys these!

My latest piece is this reindeer, appropriate for the holiday season. I can’t remember when I had a drawing flow so easily and effortlessly. This has been one of my favorite drawings to create!

I drew this owl this past weekend as part of a love drawing demonstration for ’s Art Attack. I had a lot fun interactions with folks who took an interest in this, and I had to finish it since I put so much time into it this weekend.

I hope everyone likes this latest piece, just in time for Art Attack at / , November 14-16.

This was done in colored pencils and Posca markers and blended with solvent for a smoother finish.

Just finished this commissioned piece for a good friend who shall remain nameless (until she give it as a gift). One of my favorites, as this came together right from the beginning!

On a related note, I am available for commission work if you have a horse or pet you want drawn.

Latest art drop: “barn owl” in colored pencils.
This is one of the few drawings where it seemed like everything went according to plan from beginning to end!

I finished my field piece for Art A Whirl…no more art posts for awhile, I promise.

This piece was done with and luminance / Pablo colored pencils on pastel mat paper.

I hope to see some folks at next weekend (May 16-18) in the for Art A Whirl.
