“Remember me. Remember us.”

🎻Violins of Hope: Honoring Memory Through Music is now on view at TMORA, presented in partnership with the Minnesota JCC — a powerful exhibition of twelve restored violins once played by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust, each carrying its own story of survival, loss, resilience, and hope.

These violins are not silent artifacts. They are witnesses.

We invite you to experience this extraordinary exhibition and reflect on the enduring power of music, memory, and human dignity.

On view through June 28.

From avant-garde experimentation to monumental visions of industry and progress, Poster Art of the Soviet Era traces the evolution of Soviet visual culture across the full span of the USSR.

Drawn from TMORA’s important collection of Soviet-era posters, the exhibition explores how artists developed a bold and instantly recognizable graphic language to communicate ideology, shape public identity, and imagine the future. Spanning more than seventy years of history, the exhibition reveals dramatic shifts in style — from the radical innovation of the early Soviet avant-garde to the rigid formulas of the Stalin era, renewed modernist aesthetics under Khrushchev, the stagnation of the Brezhnev years, and the final thaw under Gorbachev.

Join us for Preview Night on Thursday, May 21, from 6:00–8:00 PM. Learn more: tmora.org/events

Tomorrow, TMORA opens Violins of Hope: Honoring Memory Through Music. 🎻

Presented in partnership with the Minnesota JCC, Violins of Hope is a global initiative showcasing restored violins played by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust.

Pictured here is the Russian Orchestra Violin, once played by a Jewish soldier in the Russian army during World War II. In the midst of war, music offered soldiers moments of comfort, humanity, and connection to home. For Jewish musicians especially, the violin could also serve as a quiet link to heritage and faith at a time when so much was under threat.

Though little is known about the soldier who carried this instrument, the violin itself remains a witness to endurance, memory, and hope.

We invite you to experience these extraordinary instruments — and the stories they carry — beginning tomorrow at TMORA.

Admission is free this weekend as part of Doors Open Minneapolis (May 9–10).

Violins of Hope: Honoring Memory Through Music will be on view through June 28.
