Join us at Q.arma Building for the artist talk and closing reception of Jack Ketchum: It’s Too Late!

Come spend some time with us, experience the exhibition, hear from the artist, and celebrate the work and ideas behind the show. It’s a chance to gather, connect, and take in the exhibition before it comes to a close.

It will be a red-hot event of monumental destruction. Come witness blood spilt and dreams shattered as the artist puts on full display some of the epic failures and inconvenient truths of American society, starting with Minneapolis. Warning: Possible side-effects include shaking knees, tears of rage and existential crisis.

We’ve got a full day of open studios, an exhibition opening, and a community gathering happening throughout the building!

🎨 FALL OPEN STUDIOS
12–6 PM
Come visit Q.arma artists in their studios, explore the building, meet artists and makers, and see what’s happening behind the doors.

🌍 MINNEAPOLIS–BERLIN: common ground
Opening Reception • 4–8 PM
Q1, Q2 & QU Galleries
Featuring work by students from Weissensee Academy of Art Berlin and graduate students and recent MFAs from the University of Minnesota Department of Art. Originally presented in Berlin, the exhibition brings together artists who connected across the Atlantic to find common ground through art.

6:30–10 PM
Q.arma Courtyard
After Open Studios, we’ll gather in the courtyard for a potluck Fall Table with Q.arma artists. Bring a dish, snack, dessert—or simply yourself. 🍎🍂

Q.arma Building is honored to host a special exhibition celebrating the life and work of Bob, affectionately known throughout the clay community as “Bob the Fish Guy.”

Bob Robert Brocken wasn’t just an extraordinary ceramic artist—he was one of our cherished guest artists, a generous teacher, and a true clay guru to most, if not all, of the ceramic community. Whether you knew him through Continental Clay, a kiln question, a glaze conversation, or simply by sharing time in the studio, chances are Bob helped shape your clay journey. His generosity, kindness, humor, and deep knowledge touched countless artists, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Please join us as we celebrate Bob’s remarkable legacy through the fish he lovingly made and the community he helped build.

📍 Q.arma Building – Q-Underground Gallery (basement level)
📅 Saturday, August 1
🕑 2:00–7:00 PM

Fish will be available by donation during the exhibition. Because supplies are limited and Bob had so many admirers, we kindly ask visitors to keep their catch to one fish per person (or two sunnies 🎣) so more people can take home a piece of his legacy.

Come share stories, celebrate a life well lived, and honor an artist who gave so much of himself to others. We hope you’ll join us in remembering Bob and the lasting impact he made on our creative community.

Join us on the longest day of the year for Q.arma Building’s Open Studios!
Spend the afternoon exploring artist studios, meeting makers, and experiencing the creative energy of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. After the studios close, stay for our Summer Table gathering in Q.arma’s courtyard—a casual potluck dinner to celebrate community, creativity, and the season.Bring a dish, snack, dessert, or simply yourself.
