The salmon tone used throughout Bon Iver’s SABLE, FABLE is now Pantone color. The color is developed by artist and color theorist Ruben Nusz. After Vernon noticed a salmon-colored frame in Nusz’s studio, Nusz, Vernon, and Miles
Johnson collaborated to create the specific shade. Congratulations !

In a conversation with critic Anne Horton, Robert Mapplethorpe shared his ambivalence toward flowers. “I don’t love flowers and I don’t like having them,” he admitted. When Horton asked if it was the bother of watering them that he disliked, Mapplethorpe replied, “Watering them and dripping on the floor.” Horton then suggested it might be the experience of watching them die, to which he agreed:
“And watching them die and feeling guilty about them. I can’t have part of my life devoted to flowers.” Despite this aversion, he found inspiration in photographing them.
“But I can photograph them and get excited about photographing them,” he said. “I’ll sort of force myself to photograph them before they die because I know I can get a good picture of them.”

Both works are now on view in our third room.

Jerry Schatzberg on photographing Dylan. For Interview Magazine’s “Photographer Jerry Schatzberg Takes Us Inside His Archives”

“I started photographing Bob Dylan in the ’60s. He used to come down to the club and hang out there with his buddies. I’d also take him to other clubs, and the owners loved having him in there because he was really on the way up, and people loved his music. The press knew he was skeptical of them, and they weren’t very respectful at first, until all of a sudden he became a big star. But they would tell him to do silly things. And he’d put it off on them, telling them, ‘Don’t make me the fool. You’re the fool.’ With Dylan, it started out as a friendship. I asked somebody who was close to him if they could set up a sitting with him and he said yes. Often, I’d ask someone to come in about a half-hour early. We’d go into my office and just hang out and talk and become friendly. It always works better when you know people. It makes them feel more at ease, and they’ll surprise you with what they’re going to do.”

Smoke Bob Dylan, 1965, gelatin silver print, 40x30 inches, Edition of 30.
