Did you know I currently facilitate SPARK! at the Trout Museum of Art ? SPARK! is a creative cultural engagement program for people with memory loss and their loved ones. While we use visual art as a jumping off point, we've done tons of fun things like making ice cream, writing poems, painting, and more. I've had the privilege of being involved with SPARK! on and off since 2015; these programs are so rewarding to plan and incredibly fun to facilitate.

SPARK! is a free monthly engagement art program for adults living with memory loss and their care partners. Each one-hour program is led by specially trained museum educators who cultivate interactive visual art experiences.

Are you or someone you know affected by memory loss? Consider joining us for our monthly SPARK Alliance programs, which resume in March.

SPARK! is a free monthly program for individuals living with early-to-mid stage memory loss, their care partners, and family members. Participants are engaged in lively conversations, exhibit exploration, historic artifacts, and multi-sensory activities. SPARK! programs are held at the Manitowoc County Historical Society on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am.

For our program on March 11, we will explore the history of the Farmer's Almanac and explore the changing seasons through motion and music. A special shout out goes to Just Orthodontics for helping to make this program special with some fun, handheld 'props' for the program. We can't wait to show you the 'props' in action! We are very excited about the new SPARK! programs in Brown County, Wisconsin. The first program is National Railroad Museum on January 20! A great museum to visit and learn all about train travel!

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new program in our community beginning January 20! The National Railroad Museum has partnered with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Brown County and local organizations like Casa ALBA Melanie, The Mulva Cultural Center, and the Neville Public Museum to bring SPARK! to life.

The first SPARK! program at the National Railroad Museum will take place on January 20 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m!

What is SPARK!? SPARK! is a creative engagement program designed for individuals with early to mid-stage memory loss and their care partners. Together, participants can enjoy meaningful, stimulating experiences with art, culture, and nature in a welcoming, supportive environment. Specially trained staff and volunteers ensure every moment is impactful and enjoyable.

SPARK! isn’t an acronym—it’s a connection. It’s about SPARKing moments of joy, creativity, and living in the moment, all while staying actively engaged in the community. This program is a beautiful way to strengthen bonds, create memories, and connect with others!
