Happy World Otter Day!

River otters are highly intelligent with tight social bonds. Their webbed feet and streamlined, muscular bodies make them great swimmers. Although they spend most of their time in the water, river otters also play and travel on land.

Celebrate Otter Day by visiting Ginger the River Otter at Blue Hills Trailside Museum.

Do you remember the magic of meeting a new friend while exploring an interactive museum?

For Steph and her daughter, they made those memories together at Trailside:
"My 3 year old daughter and I decided to spend our afternoon at the Trailside Museum. We met a kestrel and learned about how harmful rodenticide can be to our feathered friends, we met an outgoing otter who was happy to swim in the water before coming up to land to say hi. Best of all, she made friends with another little girl! They went on a nature walk and saw Bald Eagles and owls and collected acorns and tossed them in the stream. The girls then ran around the museum where they counted how many chestnuts a chipmunk could fit in its mouth. All in all an enriching and fun filled day!"

Thanks for sharing your wild story, Steph! If you have your own wild story to share, submit it to our Wild for Wildlife Giveaway at https://www.massaudubon.org/nature-wildlife/go-wild-for-wildlife/wild-stories-giveaway-entry-form
