West Florida Railroad Museum The Museum occupies the L&N Milton combination freight and passenger depot that was built in 1907-09 on the site of the original 1882 P&A depot.

The Milton depot, on the National Register of Historic Places, is owned by the Santa Rosa Historical Society and leased by the West Florida Railroad Museum, Inc. The station was closed in 1973, bought by the Santa Rosa Historical Society, and partially restored with a 1976 Bicentennial grant.

In 1946, almost 300,000 people submitted names and a short explanation in a contest which paid $1,000.00 (Approximately $18,000.00 in today’s money) to the winners. In the early years of the Cold War/Atomic Age, one of the names considered was “The Atomic Flash”!
