Spring Cleanup

Spring cleanup at the New Hampshire Farm Museum is very big this time of year! Mackenzie Trainor of Kingston, New Hampshire, gently places the washed Haviland china from 1825 and sets the 1860's dining room table on freshly ironed linen. The table cloth took 45 minutes alone to iron! Each piece had a designated place to go on the table as part of proper Victorian etiquette. Mackenzie, who was trained at Sturbridge Village, is one of our dedicated volunteers and tour guides. Come meet her at the Granite State Street Rodders Classic Car Show on Saturday, June 13, 4 to 7 p.m. Admission is free for spectators! Classic cars are $5 per vehicle. To see a complete listing of all events, visit our website at www.nhfarmmuseum.org. Get in the spirit and come explore history in your own backyard! Our first event, World War Ii on the Farm, is Saturday, May 30., 10 to 4. Come meet Bakers Company. 121st Marine Regiment, who fought in the Pacific. Tractor rides, barn tours, music from the 1940's in the parlor, 1940's kitchen featuring Women and Children, bread pudding, Dr. Z's World of Watches , and more. Food available for purchase! This event is an ongoing part of our "Celebrating 250 Years " Series, a salute to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence ! All veterans and members are free!

Board of Trustees President Joe Bailey, Ieft, stopped by to meet with Liberty Mutual volunteer Rendon Elsesser, middle, and Executive Director Jon Hotchkiss, right, earlier this week. Elsesser has a small farm of his own and worked last year to build the goat pasture. Our thanks to all our Liberty Mutual volunteers for three days of help provided by thirteen employees! We look forward to welcoming you back next year! Eager Beaver Cleanup Day at the New Hampshire Farm Museum is Saturday, May 16th, 10 to 3. We especially need help with cleaning up the Plummer Ridge trail that surrounds the property and removing brush from our stone walls. Bring the family and feel the satisfaction that giving back to the community makes! A light lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Janet Hotchkiss, M.S., Program Director, at 603-652-7840, or email her at [email protected].
