We just got done putting together all 31 Baskets that are ready for the Online Auction. We only thought we would have ten but it grew and grew. There are so many generous local businesses that donated that we cannot say Thank You enough to them. Please click on Events then Holiday Online Auction on our Page and click Going so that you do not miss this great opportunity to bid on some really fantastic items. Please share with friends and family so they do not miss out either.

The proceeds from this years fundraiser are going towards a new computer and printer along with other software upgrades. Additionally, the museum has grown so much that we need to rent storage. WOW, our little Museum has come so far in just three years. Below you will find a list of our donors. Pictures of Baskets in Comments.

Today we are sharing a photo and a some history again from the Shamrock and surrounding area. Betsy Thunder pictured below was an incredible Medicine Woman from the Ho-Chunk Nation. Born Betsy Decorah, (believed to be born in 1817) she was part of the Thunderbird Clan. She was taught the ways of medicine from her husband Whirling Thunder. She was known far and wide as Dr. Thunder. She could help those where others had failed and was highly respected. Her son and grandson also became a very powerful Medicine Man for the Nation. They all treated patients no matter the color or status. Betsy lived to be 96 years old passing away in 1913. The Thundercloud homestead still exists in Shamrock and her descendants and family still live in the area. Betsy's history has been shared in many articles and books. We are proud to share and display her history in the Museum.

If you would like to learn more about Betsy please come visit the Museum.

The Old Town Hall Building has been standing in Millston since 1884. Built for the sum of $1,157.00.

It is in need of quite a bit of help these days. That building is where the Museum first came to be. We have countless pictures of events that were held in this building. Thousands of people went through those doors.

Wm. Treat Harkner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

We were so saddened to hear that the Harkner family has suffered another great loss this week with the passing of Treat. He was an avid supporter of area community events and was known and far wide for his wonderful personality and stories to share. When the museum was revived he stopped by several times to show his support and give us a history lesson or two. The details of his service are listed below.

Share Memories & Support the Family.

Last night the park commission met with the Millston Town Board. Due to concerns about the virus, this year's tournament has been cancelled.
I have a back up plan for a fundraiser for MDA. When I have some of the details worked out I will post the plan.
So stay healthy and hopefully we will see you all playing ball in 2021.

*Memorial Day Service Message

Shared from Sue Susan Thompson-Vanderheyden

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and Safer at home order the MIllston Memorial Day service in the Brookside cemetery and the Memorial Day Lunch at the Community Center will be CANCELLED this year.

Memorial Day is a day to remember the sacrifices of those who answered their nations call. Memorial Day is a day to honor the brave men and women for their heroic sacrifice for our freedom.

I encourage everyone to take a moment to honor all veterans on Monday May 25, 2020. As always the cemetery is open for all to pay tribute to the veterans. Individual flags WILL BE placed on each veterans grave.
