George Condo. Untitled, 1985. Crayon on paper.

This drawing was exhibited at Galerie Bruno Bischofberger in Zurich in September 1985 — George Condo’s first major European exhibition. From that show it traveled to Akira Ikeda Gallery in Tokyo, then into a Japanese private collection, then to Sotheby’s Hong Kong in October 2020 where it was acquired by the present owner.

That is four decades of documented institutional history across three continents.

This is what exceptional provenance looks like. And this is exactly what we mean when we say provenance builds confidence — the better the paper trail, the more secure the acquisition.

Before Keith Haring was a household name, he was painting on wood in Los Angeles in the summer of 1982.
This is one of those works.
Untitled (August 1982) — acrylic and marker on wood, signed and dated by the artist. Radiating figures, electric pink, unmistakable energy. Small in scale. Enormous in presence.
Provenance: Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York → Private Collection → Rosenfeld Gallery, Miami.
