What driving in South Carolina at night is like 🌴🌙
You’re just minding your business on a dark two-lane backroad, windows cracked, warm humid air sticking to everything, frogs and crickets going crazy, and for a second… it actually feels peaceful.
Palmettos and pine trees on both sides, barely any lights…
just you, the road, and that quiet Lowcountry night.
Then your brain switches up real quick.
Every shadow starts looking suspicious.
Every curve feels like something’s waiting on the other side.
You ease off the gas a little…
not because you have to—
but because it just feels like South Carolina about to do something. 😭
And then it does.
Out of nowhere… something moves.
Not a normal crossing either.
Just… standing there.
Could be a deer.
Could be a raccoon.
Could be a possum playing dead mid-road like it pays rent.
Or worse… a gator that decided the road belongs to him now. 🐊💀
Eyes glowing.
Not moving.
Just staring at you like you the one out of place.
Now it’s a full standoff.
You don’t move.
It doesn’t move.
You sitting there on some random South Carolina backroad at 10:47 PM wondering how this turned into a survival situation.
And the worst part?
You already know…
even if it moves—
there’s probably something else in the ditch watching the whole thing. 😭
Welcome to South Carolina nights…
where the road is yours…
until it’s not. 🌴🌙
