Tuesday, the 4th grade classes from Hawthorne Elementary toured the museum and ended the tour in the Country church to hear Dave Maupin do a presentation on the Revolutionary War to go with the history lesson they are currently learning. We love having students visit the museum to learn more about the history of Audrain County, Missouri and America!

Last Saturday we officially opened the Bob Gooch Research Room in the museum! A special Thank You to the Charity Bridge Group and Bob's family, wife, Annabelle, sons, Randy & Tim and their families for the monetary donations to complete the room. We truly appreciate Sam Douglas and his son, Jacob for volunteering to paint the room. Thank you to Dr. John and Becky Hagan and Dr. Warren and Lisa Hagan for their donations to the research room. Bob was a great educator, coach and Athletic Director for many years at Mexico Public Schools.

Thank you to MMA for the pictures! Last Friday we were honored to have 40 students from Missouri Military Academy volunteer on the museum grounds. They helped pull weeds, lay mulch, plant flowers, hang up pictures, move big rocks, and several other tasks. They worked very hard all day! We appreciate everything they did for us and Mexico is fortunate to have MMA in our community! Thank you to all the cadets, MMA staff (especially Ethan Everhart, who is also a part time staff member for the museum), Steve Prior and the staff at ACHS! It was a great day!

A BIG THANK YOU to Kevin Barker & his crew with the City of Mexico and LaCrosse Lumber Company for helping us preserve a big piece of history today! Thank you to Tim Williams of Crown Laundry for donating the Orpheum Theater tiled entry to Audrain County Historical Society! The City & Lacrosse crews carefully cut the tiles, picked up the big pieces and delivered them to the museum in this very hot weather. We have work to do at the museum to get the tiles in their final place but we are so excited to be able to preserve such a beautiful historical piece! Thank you to our Board Vice-president, Chris Newbrough, for heading up this project!
