🚪 One of the fun things about working in a historic house is discovering little details you've never noticed before.

While preparing for upcoming restoration work, we finally opened this tiny door beneath the staircase at Opal Lawrence House. The result? Well... you'll have to watch the video. 😄

In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, all City of Mesquite offices will be closed.
Mesquite Metro Airport and the Compost Facility and Convenience Center will remain open. Recreation centers, libraries, the Mesquite Animal Shelter, Mesquite Arts Center, Florence Ranch Homestead and Opal Lawrence Historical Park will be closed.
Trash and recycling services: No Residential recycling collected. Recycling collection will resume on next scheduled collection day. Commercial and Residential trash will be collected. Commercial recycling will be collected.

Yesterday was our final field trip of the season, and we’re feeling incredibly thankful.

This year, thousands of MISD 3rd graders and educators spent time exploring history with us — and none of it would be possible without the volunteers who help welcome guests, lead activities, answer questions, prepare spaces, and keep things running behind the scenes.

Thank you for helping us bring local history to life for our community. We had so much fun this season and can’t wait to welcome everyone back this summer and into next year! ❤️
