One of the things we have to do periodically is schedule a spa day! Wild birds of prey are continually exposed to the elements which keeps the keratin in their beak soft and easier to wear down. Since captive raptors are fed a premium varied diet and sheltered, their beaks often grow faster than it naturally wears, so we have to trim them. This can be done with a combination of trimmers, files, and rotary tools.

Also, you can see Greensleeves’ cataract in the bottom frame!
