We were honored to welcome Dr. Melissa Kerin and her ARTH 243 Imaging Tibet class from Washington and Lee University for a tour of our Asian Art Gallery, including a deep dive into our altar installation modeled after altars in Taiwan with Dr. Aaron Reich of SJU’s Department of Theology & Religious Studies.

“The students especially appreciated that the altar display invited engagement in a way that is so unusual for museums. They were also deeply moved by the ways the museum is grappling with ethical questions surrounding acquisition and display. In their reflections, they consistently held MAM up as an ideal model of transparency and honest public engagement.”

We’re grateful for thoughtful conversations like these that connect art, history, and lived religious practice.

So excited to share another incredible update from our Maguire community!

Huge congratulations to Joshua Wilson, Student Worker at the Maguire Art Museum, on his upcoming role as a Curatorial Intern at the Brandywine Museum of Art this summer!

In this role, Joshua will assist in all aspects of curation, from object research and exhibition development to collection installations. Working closely with museum curators, he will contribute to research for upcoming exhibitions on the Battle of Brandywine, contemporary art, environmental preservation, and the Wyeth family. He will also have the opportunity to shadow curators and participate in departmental meetings, gaining valuable behind-the-scenes experience in the museum field.

We are so proud of you, Joshua, and can’t wait to see all that you accomplish this summer!

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible voices behind our Senior Exhibition artists who invite us to reflect, feel, and see the world in new ways.

From Sahr Karimu’s exploration of beauty in everyday life and the American experience, to Lillian Hill’s deeply personal reflections on identity and self-worth. From Max Lyons’ vibrant reimagining of dark fantasy, to Skylar Alexander’s raw and honest expression of mental health. From James Miller’s immersive, tactile works that challenge how we experience art beyond sight and Gianna Addesso’s powerful exploration of womanhood, identity, and stepping into one’s power.

Each artist brings a unique perspective shaped by years of growth, creativity, and courage.

Metamorphosis: Echoes of Process captures not just finished works, but the journeys behind them.

Stop by the Maguire Art Museum to experience these powerful pieces in person and support our talented seniors as they close this chapter.
