This past Sunday, the Sibley Historic Site was honored to host an “En Plein Air” painting workshop with the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota. The term “en plein air” is a French expression meaning “in the open air.” The workshop was led by instructor Jack Dant, a skilled “en plein air” painter who shared insights into the history of this art form in Minnesota, followed by a demonstration of oil painting techniques. Students then created their own 8" x 10" portrait.
