Natural sand collected from beaches around the world gives Jan Peterson’s work both its color and its texture. In “Blessing Altar, The Four Colors of Human Beings,” he uses sand painting to create an image tied closely to the earth, shoreline, and the quiet rhythms found in nature. Jeff Leedy says, “God gave me this strange set of contact lenses, and this is how I see life,” which explains a lot about the wonderfully off-center humor in his work. He built his career around Art That Makes You Laugh®, using painting and drawing to turn everyday situations into something unexpected, absurd, and funny. For Jeff, the laughter matters as much as the art itself because seeing someone respond to his work is what keeps him creating. Paul Brewer has spent the past 20 years photographing the changing light, wildlife, and coastline around his Mendocino-area home, often returning to familiar places until the conditions are right. His photographs are reproduced as dye-infused metal prints, a process he favors for their luminous color, detail, and archival quality. This season, Paul is introducing his “Little Gems,” smaller versions of some of his popular photographs, with prices starting at $65. They offer a different way to enjoy his nature and wildlife photography, from hummingbirds and pelicans to waves, sunsets, and coastal landscapes.
