The 10th Annual Native Arts Expo comes to the Mendocino Art Center October 16 and 17, 2026, bringing together Indigenous artists, performers, storytellers, and cultural traditions for a special two-day celebration.
This year’s Expo includes an art market, cultural demonstrations, artist panels, musical performances, traditional dancing, a special film screening, and the opening of “Birds and the Beads” in the gallery. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet artists, experience their work, and spend time learning directly from the people and cultures represented.

Lee Munsell has spent years exploring the California and Oregon coasts, studying the shifting light, atmosphere, and quiet drama of the shoreline.
For this show, his focus turns to the Mendocino Coast. Lee has a sensitive eye for luminosity, and his paintings reflect the subtle changes in light that give this coastline so much of its character.
Meet Lee at Highlight Gallery during Mendocino’s Second Saturday Art Walk, October 10, 2026, 4 to 7 p.m. Other galleries throughout town will also be open late with receptions, making it a wonderful evening to explore art in Mendocino.

The 3rd Annual North Coast KelpFest returns October 9 through 12 with four days of events celebrating the remarkable kelp forests of the Mendocino Coast.
This year’s festival brings together education, restoration, food, art, film, and plenty of fun. Events include sand sculptures, uni harvesting, a fish taco crawl, films, updates on kelp forest restoration, and a surf dance party. It’s a chance to learn more about bull kelp and giant kelp forests, the wildlife they support, and the work underway to protect and restore this important coastal ecosystem.

For more than 45 years, Anthony Kahn has been designing and building furniture meant to live with for generations. This weekend, the Arcata master furniture maker returns to Highlight Gallery with a new dining set, and he’ll be here in person to meet visitors and talk about his work.
If you’ve ever wondered what goes into a handmade dining table, or you’ve been thinking about a commissioned piece for your own home, this is a wonderful opportunity to talk directly with Anthony.
