This week’s Sunday Spotlight shines on our McLoud Historical-Society's Secretary, Kathy Harris! 🌟

Kathy’s path to our museum is as unique as they come. Before diving into local history, she earned a degree in auto trim from OSU Tech—where she was nominated for Automotive Student of the Year! Her earlier academic journey also included completing 3.5 years as a pre-med major, stopping just one math class shy of taking the MCAT before getting married and moving to North Carolina for a few years. Creative flair has always been part of her story: as a teenager and well into her early thirties while working at TG&Y, she sewed custom garments to promote store fabric sales—with a few pieces even getting sold right off the mannequins! 👗🚗

Her connection to the Historical Society was originally sparked by her granddad Palmer, who filled her youth with rich family stories and local folklore. If she had to travel back in time, she’d return to the late 1970s while her daughter was growing up right here in the area. Today, Kathy's favorite part of being an officer is meeting everyone connected to the museum, from first-time visitors to dedicated members. Her biggest hope is to inspire younger generations to discover the magic of both their local and personal histories.

Be sure to stop by and say hello to Kathy next time you visit the museum! 🏛️✨
