I have been making art for many years, but only in 2004 did I begin to reveal myself on canvas. I used my artistic talents to interpret music into dance with innovative and lively choreography in years past. Now I take that passion to the canvas as my paintings reflect the movement of my life-dance. I enjoy contemporary style with vivid color, a free hand, and copious amounts of oil paint, mainly using knives. Applying many layers with bright and bold colors, I create uniquely distinctive paintings that often reveal a significant meaning in my life. My award-winning art is displayed in private homes, both individually and as collections ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Flower Field

All of Bobbi K Samples' paintings are original oils on gallery wrap canvas. I start my works by outlining my main subject, then blocking in color with a very large brush - usually 2" to 4" in width. After color blocking, I begin to add depth and texture using a putty knife bringing the direction and pattern of strokes into play. I paint Dark to Light which sometimes requires an underpainting first, allowing for drying time. The paintings details are finished with thick paint via a brush or knife depending on the application. The final touch is to darken the darks and lighten the lights. All paintings are sealed and glossed using 2 coats of a liquin glaze medium and finally sprayed with ultraviolet protection.
