Celebrate freedom, culture, and community at Living History Saturday: Juneteenth on Sat. June 13!

🔴Historic cooking demonstrations featuring red and “good fortune” traditional Juneteenth recipes, quilting with a “Make Your Own Quilt Square” activity, and banjo music performed by local musician, Stephen Hardy.

🟡A military demonstration of the 25th Ohio Veteran Volunteer Infantry will highlight the role of the Federal soldiers who occupied York County at the end of the Civil War and enforced emancipation.

⚫️A specialized site tour, “The Hope of Emancipation” will be at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. there will be a tour of the Enslaved Ancestral Burial Ground.

🟢And don’t miss “A Conversation with Descendants” an opportunity to meet descendants of the people who were enslaved on the Bratton plantation and find out what happened to them during and after Emancipation.

Battle of Huck’s Defeat tickets on sale soon! 💥Don’t miss this special reenactment during on July 11 & 12! This year’s battles are the Battle of Eutaw Springs on Saturday, July 11 and Huck’s Defeat on Sunday, July 12 (on the anniversary of the original battle!)
