The IMAS hosted the Homeschool Science Fair on January 22, 2020 with a great turnout of young scientific minds and diverse projects.
Science projects ranged from analyzing the percentage of clay in our backyards to surveying how music affects the brain. These participants worked hard and each demonstrated the scientific method. Special thanks to our judges for this event including Yara Corbitt, PE, Romeo Lopez, BBVA Advisory Board Member, Bill Ranganath, Trustee Emeritus, and Dr. Angela Chapman, UTRGV.

A reception took place to congratulate all participants and present top awards in Elementary, Middle, and Overall categories.

Thank you to BBVA Compass Bank for supporting this event through a grant for educational programming.

Yesterday, Brew-seum presented by IMAS committee kicked off Empty Barrels - a food & fund drive supporting the Food Bank RGV INC!

Thank you to 5x5 Brewing Co. and Hilmy Cellars for providing the six Empty Barrels which will be used as canvases for local artists, then placed at Brew-seum participating restaurants & sponsor locations to collect donations for the food bank starting in late February. At the end of the drive, the artistic barrels will be turned into bar tables and auctioned at the 12th Annual Night at the Brew-seum presented by IMAS, April 4, 2020! This is such an exciting opportunity to do good in our community and to raise visibility for these organizations. Let's fill these Empty Barrels!

This event would not be possible without our incredible sponsors:
Clark Chevrolet
Clark Knapp Honda
L&F Distributors McAllen

Compulsory Measures Exhibit Opens at the International Museum of Art and Science - Texas Border Business

Compulsory Measures Exhibit
With social media fictions and rampant consumerism triggering excessive anxiety across most demographics, the artists in Compulsory Measures offer a contemplative slowing down even as they urge acknowledgement of some of the most pressing issues (environmental crisis to global marginalization) facing civilization today.

In a fast-paced society heightened by the busyness of the holiday season, Compulsory Measures, a new exhibit at the International Museum of Art & Science, encourages us to slow down and take time to examine the current world around us.
