Over the moon to have this piece in the collection!

Crocheted by Eliza Nobbs of Bear Cub Miniatures using a 0.4mm hook, sewing needle and rayon silk thread, her Sun, Moon & Star cardigan with matching Astronomer’s Dress won the Kensington Dollhouse 2025 Perfection in Miniature Awards (PIMA) Junior competition for her age group. She was 19 at the time. The following year she was awarded IGMA Artisan status. Look for her Astronomer’s Outfit in the Calvert Gallery display cases outside the KSB Miniatures Collection gallery.

These photos were taken by her mother and fellow miniaturist Melissa Dinsdale Nobbs whose marquetry chess table earned a Highly Commended honor in Kensington’s 2026 PIMA. Another talented mother-daughter duo of miniaturists!

2027 KSB Miniatures Workshops
Playful Cat Sculpture with a Lifelike Fiber Coat
with Kerri Pajutee Miniature Animals
April 13 to 17, 2027

Join miniature animal artist Kerri Pajutee for this hands-on workshop and learn the techniques she uses to create a lifelike 1:12 scale miniature cat.
Each student will receive a hand sculpted, fully cured polymer clay cat in a playful static pose, ready for customization. A brief overview of the sculpting process, materials, and tools will be demonstrated and discussed before students begin transforming their own miniature feline.
Students will choose a coat color from a selection of natural alpaca and wool fibers, including white, black, gray, or combinations of colors for patterns such as tuxedo or tabby. They will then personalize their sculpture by painting coat and facial details, constructing a poseable wire tail, and creating custom UV resin eyes to install in their cat.
The majority of the class will be devoted to preparing and applying a realistic fiber coat. Students will learn how to comb and blend fibers using hand carders, create ultra-fine flocking material, and apply successive layers of fiber using scissors, tweezers, paintbrush, and glue. Once the fiber coat has been applied, students will learn various finishing techniques, including precision scissor trimming, coat shaping, and applying a protective fixative. Final details—such as delicate tapered whiskers and tiny paw pads—will be added to bring each miniature cat to life.
Most students should be able to complete their cat during class. A detailed step by step instructional booklet will be provided for reference and to assist with any finishing work completed at home, if necessary.

The Fireplace Workshop
with Ron Stetkewicz
April 13 to 17, 2027

Join Ron Stetkewicz for the Fireplace Workshop and learn how to work with solid brass, and make a full suite of fireplace accessories!
In this class, students will become brass smiths: soldering, bending, forging, grinding, and polishing on solid brass pieces. Using butane torches, rotary tools, and a belt sander, students will create a full set of fire tools, andirons, a fender, a coal scuttle, and a back plate.
Students will be able to choose the styles of their fender, andirons, and fire tool handles, so they can be sure that their accessories match their fireplace! Bring a scale drawing of your fireplace or hearth—or the real thing, if it’s portable!—and you can custom-fit the pieces to your needs.
