Not too sure if there is a hole in the top of the lighthouse, also really wish whoever cut down the brush would have removed it. Guess it's going to end up in the lake tonight. 😒😏

So I am sad to announce that there wasn't much good news that came out of last night's meeting. The President and Vice President made it clear that they have failed the Lighthouse over the last 5 years. They are now scrambling to try and show that something has been done. They announced that they have a little more than $3,000 in the fund but yet nothing is being done with it. They have secured opinions from 3 contractors in the last few weeks and threw them to the wolves last night. They mostly talked about how our brick idea won't work because of possible weight issues as the Island the Lighthouse stands on is old and man made. We are aware that the island is man made and that there is a weight restriction. It seems that the "Save the Lighthouse" group has only focused on our efforts and how to attempt to dispel them instead of coming up with fundraiser ideas and getting feet on the ground making it happen. I suggested having atleast one event at the Rolling Skating rink that solely benefits the Lighthouse! Since Judy and Jim own the skating rink I didnt think it was a problem for them to donate a few hours to a "Save the Lighthouse" skating session! I know even if I wasn't up to skating or couldn't stay the whole time I would certainly buy at least one ticket and go see the event. I would probably even be willing to pay $20 for said ticket if it was going to benefit and help save the lighthouse. Does anyone else agree with me? I don't understand why when you have a roller skating rink at your disposal you wouldn't at least do one event a month every couple of months or at least once a year to benefit the lighthouse with all proceeds going to that. I would think at the very least this would have been an option. When I suggested this to Jim he was upset with me and said that his business has nothing to do with the lighthouse. However if you attended the meeting yesterday most of the beginning of the meeting was about the history of the park and how there's always been a roller skating rink as part of the Park. It seems common sense to me to use that connection as a fundraising point and collect some funds from the people who love to skate and also want to see the Lighthouse saved. What I didn't hear last night was an actual plan of action to save the lighthouse. They have had just short of five years to complete this project and here we are in under two months of the contract ending that they want to provide some action. I also asked why when I first started poking at this project and offering my help did they not call a meeting to help bounce some ideas around for some fundraising. The answer that I was given was covid. I think we have all gotten pretty good at attending virtual meetings over this pandemic and could have handled attending a virtual meeting for the save the lighthouse. I think that their lack of meetings and transparency and action says a lot about why the lighthouse looks the way it does. I was asked at the meeting where was I for the last 5 years if I thought that I could do so much good. About five years ago I try to inquire about helping to save the lighthouse and I was never answered. I was also very sick and I've had brain surgery twice since then so I apologize for not getting on the ball sooner and asking the tough questions that nobody else seems to ask. However when I asked what they've done over the last five years I get met with the answer of that is the past and we should focus on the future. So you can ask me about my past but I can't ask you about yours? They all say that they have jobs and that they are busy but they also agreed to sign a contract to fix the lighthouse 5 years ago. If they were so busy why did they agree to take on such a large complicated project? Or why haven't they reached out sooner for help because they got in over their heads?? It seems that they want to blame everybody else for not donating enough when really I think we should be looking at why they have not been advertising, reaching out to people who could be useful, or doing events that could be bringing in money to complete the project. I see pages on Facebook and Instagram all the time doing live virtual fundraisers. We live in a time at the moment where it is the easiest to get people to donate money to even the stupidest things. I don't understand why they haven't tried to do at least one virtual fundraiser on Facebook with their page that they created. Is anything I'm saying makes sense?? Am I crazy here?? Or does it really seem like nothing is being done.

The group "The Friends of the Lenape Lighthouse" are having a meeting tonight at Lakeside Manor. Lakeside Manor is the building that is located at Lenape Park East where the lighthouse is. If you would like information on the status of restoration or if you are just wondering what is going on and how you can help, Please come to the meeting and ask some questions. I think the more of the community we get together on this the better. I just want to see the lighthouse get restored to its former Beauty. Meeting is at 6:30pm TONIGHT! Lighthouse Update! I have apparently been blocked from "Friends of the Lenape Lighthouse" page. 🤔 Judy told me herself about this meeting when I stopped at the Roller Skating Rink recently. Please attend the meeting if you would like to hear from Judy about the condition of the lighthouse! I will be there to see what she has to say.
