📷 THROWBACK THURSDAY! The Roxy Theater and the City Hotel above it on Main Street in Marshall. The Roxy was located at 349 West Main Street. The movie that is playing, "Hold That Kiss" starring Mickey Rooney, Maureen O'Sullivan, and Dennis O'Keefe was released in 1938. The Roxy was in business from 1935 to 1956.

🎄 We are seeking entries for the 14th Annual Indoor Christmas Tree Walk at the Lyon County Museum!

We are inviting businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, and families to decorate a tree for this year's festive display. We encourage you to be as creative as you can be, and to share your story with your decorated tree. This is a great opportunity for businesses and organizations to get the word out about their services.

Visitors will have a chance to vote for their favorite tree or trees. Voters will place money in boxes located at each tree to vote for their favorite(s). There will also be an online option for people to vote. All proceeds from the boxes will go to benefit the Lyon County Museum’s mission of preserving and presenting Lyon County history.

📅 Open to visitors: November 21 - December 31, 2026
⏱ Deadline to sign up is October 26, 2026.

Join us this Monday, October 5 at 1:30 PM for Sarah Lockwood's presentation on: "Introduction to Scandinavian Digital Archives"

About the Program: Learn about the digital archives of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. They have rich resources, but can be frustrating to navigate. This presentation will share tips to help you with your learning curve.

About the Speaker: Sarah Lockwood is a proud Minnesotan, with ancestry from both an adopted family and a birth family. Forensic genealogy has been a personal journey for Sarah. As an adoptee, she used what she learned about forensic DNA matching to find her own birth mother and father! She turned her love of genealogy into a professional business. She began AncestryHelp in 2022, as a small business, to help others discover their family history one ancestor at a time and to help fellow family genealogists strengthen their research skills. Her two favorite projects to work on are writing family narratives and teaching research skills. Sarah has earned certificates in Genealogical Research from Boston University, Investigative Genetic Genealogy from Ramapo College, and has completed a ProGen Study Group.
