On Friday June 12, 2026, the Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion, Virginia will hold their monthly Second Friday Artwalk event. Beginning at 5 p.m. the Gallery will hold the largest sale of Ned Johnson's small and medium size paintings and drawings, both unframed and framed, that has ever been presented. Over 100 framed and unframed pieces are included in this sale with prices of $20 to $60. Ned was a founding member of the gallery and has been displaying his work at the gallery since 2005.

Ned has cleaned out all the artwork that he has had stored in closets at home and has brought down all the artwork stored upstairs at the gallery just for this sale. Ned is now willing to part with paintings and drawings never seen before to the public. Now is a great opportunity for the public to get some original artwork for their bare walls.

Ned also has some larger framed paintings and drawings (mostly 30" x 40") that he has stored at home that he is also willing to part with for incredibly low sale ($100 or less) prices!!

Due to the larger sizes, he will not be transporting any of these to the gallery unless someone is seriously interested in purchasing one or more of them. I have photgraphed some of these larger paintings and drawings below. ( Note: Please ignore the cardboard protective corners shown in some of these photos) If you see something you are interested in, please message me and I can give you the exact sizes and medium and will get him to quote you a bargain basement price!

On Friday June 12, 2026, the Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion, Virginia will hold their monthly Second Friday Artwalk event.

The special music concert for June will feature Wayne Dunford, a long time friend of the gallery.

This concert will showcase Wayne's talents with an acoustic blend of Folk, Americana, Indie and old time music. More familiar behind drums accompanying a band, Wayne is stepping out and playing the music he enjoys the most on his guitar. Growing up in Wytheville listening to the music of WYVE, Wayne has had a professional photography business in Blacksburg for 20 plus years. Wayne now calls Wytheville home again with a photography studio in Wytheville and also enjoys farming at his family cattle farm. The music concert is sponsored by the Bank of Marion.

Work on display in June by Appalachian Spirit Gallery members include oil, watercolor, acrylic, alcohol ink and mixed media paintings; photography, felted works, wood turned items, engraved cutting boards, book arts, pottery, quilts, baskets, jewelry, and more.

The Gallery reception runs from five p.m. until eight p.m. with the indoor informal concert beginning at six p.m.

The beautiful non-profit Appalachian Spirit Gallery is located in one of Marion's historic buildings, 144 West Main Street, corner of Sheffey and Main Streets, across from Royal Presbyterian Church and next to the Town Hall.

The Gallery's Second Friday ArtWalks will continue each month through December 2026. All events are free and open to the public.

Art For Today: A Holiday tradition in downtown Roanoke! Each year since 2014, the La De Da women's clothing store unveils, in their storefront window, a holiday dress made of almost entirely of candy and other sweet treats. I post their Christmas creations each year and they always amaze! This year, lots and lots of royal icing hold it all together. Enjoy!
