Our next exhibition within the basement gallery, The Language of Christopher Bame, opens concurrently with our veterans’ exhibit on November 7th!

Christopher Bame is a deaf and autistic artist who has been using art as a way to communicate and express himself throughout his lifetime. Recently, he’s been working with artist and Marion Arts Commission President Danielle Winger in order to create works inspired by classic, famous pieces. Bame’s show will include these recent pieces as well as his own original artwork, often working like a journal: expressing his ideas, interests, and emotions.

Christopher Bame will be present during the opening reception, during which Danielle Winger will give an artist talk on his behalf. Please join us from 1-3 pm Saturday, November 7th, to take in both of these powerful exhibits.

We’re proud to announce our next main floor exhibition, Made of Valor. This show features artwork from local veterans, organized and curated with support from the art therapist at the local VA. The show will host a wide variety of work, with the main purpose of showcasing veterans’ experiences before, during, and after their service as they use their artwork to communicate and express their stories to those around them.

Join us Saturday, November 7th, for the opening of this show as well as the concurrent basement exhibition (to be announced soon). The opening will feature artist talks from several of the artists, an opportunity to take a look at both exhibitions, mingle, and enjoy our provided refreshments. Mark your calendars for 1-3 pm, the Saturday before Veteran’s Day.

Calling local university students! đź“š

We’d like to invite students to have access to the gallery as a work space on Thursday, October 15th and Friday, October 16th. This time is designed to allow students to study, complete assignments, read up on textbooks, or just have a quiet place to work in a fresh spot.

Try something new and come enjoy some local artwork while you’re here. Tables and chairs are available throughout the gallery, first come first serve. Snacks and water will be available. 10 am - 5 pm each day.

These dogs don’t need a .5 lens.

Bryan Ballinger’s whimsical characters have lit up our basement gallery space- especially these faulty dogs! If you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend coming in. It’s something completely fun and new to lift your spirits and make you laugh.

We also have a painting exhibition upstairs, so there’s something for everyone. On display until October 28th!

Every work of art deserves a closer look. But nothing beats seeing it in person.

Come enjoy our new exhibitions, viewable until October 28th! What you see here are close-ups of modern abstract paintings by Beth Hornocker from our main gallery show, though this is just a fraction of what’s on display (and for sale). We highly recommend you check them out for yourself!

Our first opening hosting two artists was more of a success than we imagined. Two audiences came together to support two separate artists, but by the end we had one crowd.

It was a delight being able to lift up two artists at one time, both at different points in their careers and with wildly different works and styles. Our artists and visitors alike traveled between the two galleries, comparing, contrasting, and taking inspiration from one another.

We want to thank everyone who came out and saw the show. But don’t fret if you missed it; both exhibitions will be open and on display until October 28th. Come in and see them both while you can! The gallery is free to enter and open to the public Tuesday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm. Almost all of the work is for sale, and with pickup landing in November, it’s never too early to start thinking of Christmas gifts! Proceeds from the show go back to the artists and towards supporting the gallery and the Marion Arts Commission.

Thank you also to the Marion Arts Commission board, to Haley Becker for our photography, and of course, to both our artists: Beth Hornocker and Bryan Ballinger!

Tomorrow!

Visit KAC from 5-7 pm this Saturday, August 22nd, to see the opening of two shows: Beth Hornocker’s “Rediscovering Beth” in our upstairs gallery, and Bryan Ballinger’s “Breadwig’s Whimsical World of Whatever” in the basement gallery.

Both artists will be giving artist talks beginning at 5:30, as well as the opportunity to purchase artwork and merchandise from the exhibition. The reception is free and open to the public, with drinks and snacks provided. Join us and bring a friend!
