Mayte Parsons has new work in the gallery, and it's dazzling in the truest sense of the word. Her Impressionist landscapes are built from fierce, unblended color: pools of pure pigment, trees that seem to evaporate into the sky, riotous wildflowers in the foreground, and vistas that stretch on forever. Born and raised in Spain, Mayte studied at St. Jorge University of Fine Arts in Barcelona and earned her BFA at San Fernando University of Fine Arts in Madrid before moving to the US in 1979. Her work now hangs in the Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills, the Bocairente City Hall in Valencia, Spain, and in private and corporate collections around the world.

Before you see Shane McDonald's paintings in person, get to know the artist behind them.

Shane has been painting professionally since 1998, and these days his studio is at the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta. He's classically trained, but his subject matter ranges wide: horses in progress for an upcoming show, landscapes built from years of observation, and portraits, which he considers his true specialty since it's really the human face that draws him in.

Shane is also a longtime instructor. He runs an open figure drawing group every Sunday and clearly takes pride in the students who pass through his classroom studio.

His new pieces have just arrived at RobertKent Galleries for "A Change of Scenery," opening Friday, September 4 from 6 to 9 PM alongside fellow artists Kanayo Ede and Mayte Parsons.

Save the date! Our next Marietta Square ArtWalk exhibition, "A Change of Scenery," opens Friday, September 4 from 6 to 9 PM at RobertKent Galleries.

This show brings together three artists working in very different kinds of places: Kanayo Ede's vivid, rearranged landscapes, Shane McDonald's classical yet contemporary paintings held in museum collections across Georgia, and Mayte Parsons' Impressionist scenes built from pools of pure color.

Admission is free and open to the public, no ticket required to walk in, though you're welcome to RSVP ahead of time.

Robert and our newest traveling art consultant, Ashley, are finishing up prep for a two week trip through Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky and Alabama, but there’s still time to make your art requests before they leave!

Introducing Kun Lee, one of the artists in "The World in Color," opening this Friday 6-9pm. He ran away from home in Korea to study art, immigrated to the U.S. before finishing his degree, and built a career now held in private and corporate collections.
