Claude Monet’s Giverny. The garden and water lily ponds that provided the artist with decades of inspiration. Close examination of the landscapes show integral aspects of light and shade in his paintings. A week of viewing art and inspiration show the genius of Monet. His later work serves as the basis of the Abstract Expressionist movement. Pure genius. There are others in this category, but not many. Mark Rothko, minimalism, etc.

Olafur Ellison designed the glass facade of the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík Iceland in collaboration with local architects. Every aspect of this project is complex - especially the geometric structure that holds the glass but also creates shapes reminiscent of basalt columns. A jewel of a building. Looks simple from a distance, but WOW!!!

Asbyrgi Iceland - A volcanic valley with 300’ tall walls. You get to the end and there is a still pool of water that reflects the surrounding walls. The fall colors add brilliance to the scene. Lush and magical. Perfect pool for trolls bathing in peace.
