in 1920, the Montgomery Advertiser reported the death of veteran A. J. Wilson and that internment would occur in one week in Mountain Creek, presumably in the Soldiers' Home cemetery. However, we have no record of an A. J. Wilson buried in the cemetery, unless he is one of the few "unknown" spots in Cemetery No. 2 without a headstone. Further research suggests this may be a typo and that this may instead refer to Alexander Perry Wilson, who served in the 2nd Alabama Cavalry and applied to the Soldiers' Home in 1915 alongside his wife, Lucretia. A Find-a-Grave entry listing A. P. Wilson notes he died on June 11, 1920 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery. Over the years, we have discovered several veterans who died at the Home, but were buried elsewhere. Additional research will hopefully offer more clues.
