MAE is dedicated to arts education, fostering an appreciation of the arts and to building community by engaging the residents of Maquoketa and surrounding areas. A not-for-profit arts organization building culture and community through the arts in downtown Maquoketa, Iowa. We offer visual arts exploration through fine art workshops for all skill levels with exhibition space for regional artists and offer community creative space.

Calling all Iowa artists! 📣 Applications are now open for the 2026 Iowa Artist Retreat, a unique two-day experience designed to support artists in building long-term sustainability for their creative careers. Through peer learning, reflection and interactive discussion, participants will gain practical tools to strengthen their artistic practice, grow audiences and identify new opportunities for creative and financial growth. Hosted in Grinnell on November 6-7, the Retreat also offers valuable opportunities to connect with artists from across Iowa. ✨
