Celebrating Read Across America Week was truly special.

During our Playful Picasso experience, students explored the story Spanish Is the Language of My Family by John Parra and then expressed what the story meant to them through painting.

With the guidance of talented painter Darlene Deloris, the children transformed inspiration from the story into colorful works of art — showing how storytelling and creativity can come together to deepen understanding and connection.

Seeing 264 students fully engaged in imagination, language, and art was a powerful reminder that literacy grows when children are given the space to experience stories in different ways.

A heartfelt thank you to John Parra and Darlene Deloris for helping make this experience so meaningful for the students.

Together, we continue the work of raising readers — one story, one brushstroke, and one classroom at a time. 🌱📚🎨
