This May marked twenty years at 125 N 4th Street Manzanita, Oregon operating my art studio weaving and creating natural fiber baskets and vessels, as well as, exhibiting the art of both local and regional creatives. It seems as Manzanita has grown and developed, so has the gallery.
Looking back at early photos, I smile thinking how the four hundred square feet of "garage" space slowly morphed each season. From handmade to factory built display tables and shelves, indoor/outdoor carpet to walnut laminate flooring, white walls to colored, and the constant effort to improve lighting and signage. There were three other artists who consigned with the gallery and now there are fifteen.
I'm hosting 4th of July week as part of the celebration by inviting Angela Kanas, oil painter whose images of north coast towns and beaches has created quite a following, and Mike Olsen, cedar wood carver and steel fish sculptor whose pieces can be seen at local businesses in town . Both will be at the gallery Friday and Saturday, July 4th and 5th unveiling new paintings and demonstrating carving techniques. I will be serving refreshments from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday.
Guest glass artist from Manzanita, Chuck Winkelman will be on hand to promote his custom designed lead window panels. There are beautiful pieces to purchase and he is happy to complete your custom order. He will be at the gallery from July 2 thru July 6.
Be sure to stop in. I'll be open at 10:00 am and have extended hours into the evening.
