We are saddened to hear of the passing of Bob “Boneman” Levin. Bob was instrumental in the restoration of the mammoth tusk that is on display in our museum. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

We were saddened to hear about the death of Bob "Boneman" Levin, of Smith Center. Yesterday, as the issue of Northwest Kansas Today featuring a story about Bob and his extensive fossil collection arrived in Smith Center mailboxes, friends and family were saying their goodbyes to him.

Bob's fossil collection has become property of Rolling Hills Zoo and is no longer available for viewing at his home. In the future, it will be on display at the zoo. It was Bob's wish that it be seen by a lot of young children to spark their curiosity about the world around them.

Linda Henderson, director of development and marketing for Rolling Hills, said creating a plan for the exhibit will take some time.

"This is not something to be rushed, as we want to honor his legacy with an exhibit that reflects Bob’s passion for discovery while preserving the wonders of the past for generations to come," she said. "Our hope is that this exhibit will inspire curiosity and awe in all who visit."
