This may explain (or further confuse) the placement of buildings in previous posts. This is a 1913 fire insurance map shared with the museum from Len Ware. Photos from a 1902 pamphlet edited and published by J.A. Fox, Assistant Engineer of the St. Francis Levee Board. The pamphlet is an example of literature published to encourage people to buy property in the area. Other towns in Mississippi County are also featured along with Manila (spelled with 2 L’s😳) Notice that Main Street at that time ran east and west along the JLC&E tracks. The pamphlet was donated to the museum by Terry Selby.
