In honor of the upcoming election, we're highlighting *Devolved Parliament* (2009), one of Banksy's most ambitious large-scale oil paintings.
Depicting the British House of Commons populated entirely by chimpanzees, the monumental work satirizes political authority, institutional dysfunction, and the illusion of civilized governance. Rather than destroying Parliament, the chimpanzees appear to conduct business as usual, suggesting that the absurdity may lie as much within the institution as with those who occupy it.
