EESHA SUNTAI, one of the KAC GFA’s original Featured Artists, is still active on the exhibition circuit, getting ready to show her work at the upcoming Newark Arts Festival “On Purpose” exhibition at the Express Newark event hub.

As well as being selected for this signature group exhibition, she has graciously added two more of her pieces to her art page on our KAC GFA website.

You can see these two new pieces or (re)visit her originally exhibited works on our website page at kacgfa.com/featured/eesha.

About a decade ago on a flight from Chicago back to New York City I was seated next to a fellow passenger who I enjoyed a fun conversation with the whole trip back. Sometime during that flight or shortly after I discovered she was an artist (photographer) by the name of Justine Kurland and made note to keep track of her artistic journey through what would turn out to be years.

On having just moved into to my new NYC apartment I was happy to discover she was showing in a solo exhibition at an art gallery called Osmos and decided to go check out her work in person for the very first time.

Kurland’s art, over decades, have always championed the experiences that are principally feminine — for its own uniquely personal identifications and outside the common and trope-fed male narratives.

There are as well images of more pastoral communities and ranch-based family living, and those likewise humbly remind me that there are ideas of family life that I remain largely unconscious, if not unaware, of.

The exhibition, Justine Kurland: A Retrospective, highlights over two decades of her captures and visions and editorials. And whether they evoke from their roundedness or “float” a little in an etherial aesthetic, they, to me, are all stop-in-your-tracks thought-provoking, often figuratively sharp-tongued yet presented with a bit of whimsy.

I’m glad I landed the exhibition opening and reception right at the start; the humbly sized gallery venue quickly filled up with fans, friends, and admirers as to need to expand back out onto the sidewalk.

I though she admits not remembering me from the flight, she was gracious enough to afford me the same warm conversation as the flight (though obviously just for a few minutes and not a whole hour), but the work, and our second meeting, remain most memorable, and fondly so.

Radosveta Zhelyazkova was the KAC GFA SOLO Artist for March of this year, and as with all of our former artists, we continue to keep up with the fine work they continue to create and showcase to the world.

This recently spotted piece, titled Boy in the Mirror, caught our eye, appreciating the added element of subject reflection and how each side of the boy subject’s face hint at very slight differences in mood and expression.

The rich, woodsy red of the frame is a welcome accent to the light earthy tones of the wall and table and the bright pops and darker pools of blue the subject wears.

You can still view Zhelyazkova’s SOLO Artist exhibition on our website at kacgfa.com.

“Some days, my studio feels like a classroom, I make mistakes here, plenty of them.

But sometimes, those same mistakes become the most honest parts of the work, so | let them stay... I let them lead.

Other days, it turns into a crime scene, clues scattered everywhere, each rivulet and stroke asking questions I don't always have answers to.

At times, it becomes a protest ground,
where my thoughts speak louder than my voice ever could, where I lay down my worries, my doubts, my truths.

A small laboratory of feeling and curiosity,
where I try, fail, try again and discover something new each time.

Little by little, piece by piece,
what feels scattered begins to find its way into something whole.

And somewhere in all of this
I find myself too.”

The KAC GFA would like to thank Adrian Burnett, our SOLO Artists for May 2026, for his well-rounded, intriguingly narrative mixed media art pieces that were a delight to both visually behold and expansively introspect.

His admiring reverence to nature — and our own, often too limited respect for our innate connection to all of nature — inspires insights on identity, connection, and even existentialism.

As we gear up for our following SOLO Artist exhibition, Burnett’s SOLO Artist exhibition will continue to be viewable through our KAC GFA website link at kacgfa.com/solo-artist-adrian-burnett.

THOTRA was one of our 2024 Color:BLACK exhibition artist contributors (tying for exhibition Favorite Art with Koni Boros), and as we love to continue following all of our exhibition artists after they show with us, we are honored to share another of THOTRA’s acrylic on canvas pieces, this one titled Abstract No. 49/24.

THOTRA continues to imbue colors, contrasts, and shapes into jaunty rhythms and layered moods, this piece being especially warm, inquisitive, and slightly mysterious.

Our KAC GFA 2024 Color:BLACK exhibition — featuring THOTRA’s co-winning art and the art of 19 other very skilled and expressive artists — can always be view in full art through our KAC GFA online-only gallery website at kacgfa.com/color-black.

The Portal — one of the nine thought-provokingly stellar pieces by our KAC GFA SOLO Artist for May 2026, Adrain Burnett — is pensive, musing exploration of how entities of nature find individuality and transformation being made up of several forms of organismic matter. Some facets of corporeality being innate, some formed by outside influences, and others still self-formed and self-ideated. And almost all born from a *seed* of an event or events.

Being a fully 3-dimensional work, The Portal also invites us to look upon it from different angles to witness parts disappear as others reappear, asking as to use different perspectives and distances to discern a whole idea, and then challenges us to then take time to ruminate on what this *sum of parts* might be both tangibly, figuratively, and theoretically, as well as how are “conclusions” are subjectively parsed by the *parts* of our own *sum* (our own *seeded* experiences).

The Adrian Burnett KAC GFA SOLO Artist for May 2026 exhibition continues through May 31 and can be viewed at kacgfa.com/solo-artist-adrian-burnett.

The KAC Gallery of Fellow Artists would like to thank our KAC GFA ONE+1 Spring 2026 exhibition contributors — Alma Faham, Chiegeonu Iyke, Laura Maddison, Núria Martí Palau, and Dana Sikkens — for their visually dynamic, singular contributions to the exhibition and for the reverent stories and backgrounds behind each of their pieces.

These engaging, introspectively layered, fascinating narratives of both eye and mind deftly help make the ONE+1 series increasingly more resonantly impactful.

It now seems ever more likely that we at the KAC GFA can offer this exhibition seasonally, as interest from artists and art-lovers alike continue to grow, largely due to the skill and strength of point of view these five talented artists exemplify.

The KAC GFA SOLO Artist for May 2026 kicks off today, featuring multidisciplinary mixed media artists Adrian Burnett.
"Passionate about texture, form, and pattern,” Burnett explains, “I create bold mixed-media pieces using found and repurposed materials — breathing new life into the discarded and overlooked. My work reflects a deep reverence for nature, often drawing from organic textures, weathered surfaces, and natural decay to explore the ongoing dialogue between humanity and the environment.”

The KAC GFA Adrian Burnett SOLO Artist for May 2026 exhibition runs from today, May 1st, through May 31st, and can be view at acgfa.com/solo-artist-adrian-burnett.
