The mission of the ARTfactory is to enrich the quality of life among all the populations in our area through the arts, including arts education and visual and performing arts. The ARTfactory is home to ARTfactory Actors Theatre (professional theatre company), ARTfactory's Pied Piper Theatre (youth theatre company), and Past Time Players (55+ theatre company). Founded in 1984 by a group of artists and art lovers, we aim to enrich the quality of life in the Northern Virginia suburbs through arts performance and education. Set in 1960s Baltimore, this high-energy show follows Tracy Turnblad, a spirited teen with a passion for dance, as she fights for love, equality, and a spot on The Corny Collins Show. Bursting with catchy tunes, dazzling dances, and plenty of heart, Hairspray is a joyful celebration of acceptance and the power of being yourself!

Presented by ARTfactory's Pied Piper Theatre, September 18, 19, 25, 26 at 7PM, September 20 & 27 at 2PM in the Gregory Family Theater at Hylton Performing Arts Center. Please note that the September 26th performance is an understudy performance.

We are thrilled to partner with 's Factory of Fear for their Feed the Fear food drive! 🎃🥫

Now through October 1st, Factory of Fear is collecting non-perishable food items to stock the shelves for their upcoming attraction—and all collected items will be donated directly to House of Mercy to help feed local families in our community!

Most-Needed Items:

- Canned soups & boxed meals
- Pasta, rice, & cereal
- Peanut butter
- Shelf-stable snacks

ARTfactory is seeking artwork for "Patient Zero", a juried exhibition inspired by horror, mystery, the macabre, and this year's Factory of Fear: Outbreak theme. Selected works will be displayed as part of an immersive Halloween experience in the Caton Merchant Gallery.

Ready to explore the art of painting oils in one sitting? 🖌️ Join us for a beginner-friendly workshop centered on the joyful “all at once” approach to painting.

Begin with simple objects from life and practice mixing color, simplifying shapes, and using confident brushwork. Then, take those techniques into the landscape as you paint clouds, trees, and a small landscape study. 🌳☁️

✨ Learn to work wet-into-wet, capture atmosphere, mix clean sky and foliage colors, and build depth through light and edges. By the end of the afternoon, you’ll have a simple, clear process for approaching a painting from start to finish.

We had our inaugural artWORKS wellness classes on August 19th and August 26th, and it was a blast! Students worked on sunflower and wave designs in various mediums, and had fun expressing themselves through art.

The next workshop is on Wednesday, September 2nd from 2-3:15 pm, and will be held at the Willow Dining Room at Birmingham Green. The class will be a free movement class with adaptive movements for all experience and mobility types, so anyone is welcome to register! We hope to see you there:

Performances will be held January 15-17 at Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. Thanks to a generous grant once again from Iron Horse Foundation, there is no registration fee for youth participating in this production.
