Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming Doug Bradley- Vietnam veteran, educator, and author- to our quarterly Mess Night at the Museum.

Reading excerpts from his music-based memoir, "The Tracks of My Years", Doug shared the soundtrack of his life while recounting stories from childhood, boot camp, Vietnam, and more. Between stories, Sean Michael Dargan provided live music featuring songs Doug referenced. Each classic tune filled the atmosphere with nostalgia and had the audience happily singing along. It was a beautiful reminder of how music unites us all. Thank you Doug and Sean Michael for sharing your talents!

Our 22nd Annual Golf Outing, sponsored by Mole Lake Casino, Lodge & Event Center and U.S. Vet General Contracting, LLC was a fantastic success! A huge thank you to our golfers, sponsors, prize donors, special guests, volunteers, and The Oaks staff for making this event possible. We had a beautiful day out on the course and raised over $45,000 for the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Thank you all for your support and generosity!

Last night, we had the honor of welcoming U.S. Navy veteran Robert Smith to speak at our quarterly Mess Night at the Museum. Robert served with the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion Unit 201 during Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.

His insightful presentation explored construction and climate challenges, negative temperatures, civil infrastructure, penguins, and more as he shared details about their mission and daily life in Antarctica.

Last week, we welcomed Patti Robinson to speak at our Mess Night at the Museum. Patti's father, Robert C. Wherritt, served in WWII's Pacific Theater with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines. He didn't talk about his service which inspired Patti to dedicate her time to researching and tracing his footsteps. Through perseverance and discovery, she began to piece his story together.

Patti visited the islands of Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian, connected with locals, and uncovered new facts and stories along the way. Thank you, Patti, for sharing your journey and your father's story- we look forward to hearing more as you continue uncovering his service!
