Join us THIS WEEKEND for guided hikes at Gillette Castle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday!
Meet at the entrance to the Visitor Center for guided hikes along Gillette's train system. The trails move through very scenic areas and have numerous historic features along the way.
The hike is about an hour and fifteen minutes and is gentle and flat with a couple of brief scrambles. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
Please leave your pets at home, or take a walk without a trail guide
(leashed dogs are allowed at the park). Bad weather cancels to include
excessive heat or rain.

Join the Friends of Gillette Castle State Park for guided hikes along the historic route of William Gillette’s narrow-gauge train! Experience the scenic 122-acre park and discover unique historic features along the trail.

📅 Dates: September 4, 5, 6 & 7

⏰ Time: Hikes start at 11:00 AM

📍 Meeting Spot: Entrance of the Visitor’s Center

⏱️ Duration: Approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes

Hike Details & Tips:

Terrain: Mostly gentle and flat with a couple of brief scrambles.

Gear: Sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Pets: To ensure comfort for all hikers, please leave pets at home for this guided walk (leashed dogs are welcome to explore the park independently!).

Weather Policy: Bad weather cancels (including excessive heat or heavy rain).

Enjoy Witch Dancing at Gillette Castle State Park! Sat., Sept 5 at 1 and 3 p.m.
The Southern New England Witch Dancers are a performance dance troupe with roots linking to the Wolfshager Hexenbruts of Germany, who catapulted witch dancing into global popular culture in 2016. Come enjoy an afternoon of festive music, striking costumes and thoughtful choreography. Performances at 1 and 3 p.m. by the entrance to the Castle. This Sunday from 4 - 6 p.m. enjoy the on our outdoor stage. You may remember the rousing fun we had at this year's holiday program! Bring a lawn chair and a picnic or sit on the bleachers. A great way to beat the heat! We hope to see you there!

Members and volunteers of Gillette Castle enjoyed a celebration on Friday to mark the installation of an informational sign about Yukitaca Osaki. The sign has been many years in the making and reflects substantial effort by both the Friends and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The weather was glorious and the snacks and beverages kept everyone sustained through lots of engaging conversations. We do two of these events ( we call them member's meet-ups) every year. See the link in the comments section to find out what membership is all about!

Celebrate Connecticut Trails day by joining us June 6th and June 7th at 11:00 a.m.or 1:00 p.m. on a guided hike of the route followed by William Gillette's narrow-gague train.
Gillette's train system runs through very scenic areas of the 122 acre state park, with numerous historic features along the way.
The hike is a about an hour and fifteen minutes, and is generally gentle and flat trail with a couple of brief scrambles.
The hikes are limited to 20 visitors, and REQUIRE advance registration:

Sturdy shoes and warm clothing is recommended.
