History being made! After 100 years, we’ve found and celebrate the unveiling of the Andrew Jackson portrait! The man who is not a myth, but a legend, local entrepreneur, philanthropist, and so much more, in which our historic Rosenwald school was named after!

The Historic Andrew Jackson Rosenwald School of Luray, VA was named after an unsung hero of his time in our local area. Andrew Jackson a black man from Luray, VA was a philanthropist, business and store owner, devoted to equal education. He was also known for assisting those in need and helping his community to prosper. For nearly 100 years all that remained of his memory was a school named in his honor. No official burial marker, and not so much as a portrait to identify who he was UNTIL NOW! Join us for this monumental event, as we unveil his portrait to display in our museum, THIS SATURDAY, at the Historic Andrew Jackson School now known as The Rec, 630 W Main Street Luray, Virginia at 1pm!
