Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have died in military service to our country. At 3 p.m. across the country on Memorial Day join in a one minute pause to remember our fallen heroes.
Historic Robeson will be flying a new flag in the Proctor garden this Memorial Day.
Board member Linda Scoggin accepted the flag for Historic Robeson on June 14, 2025 at Historic Robeson's annual Flag Day celebration from Senator Danny Britt. The flag had flown over the North Carolina Capitol.
With the help of the Lumberton FIre Department repairs were made to the halyard and the new flag was raised by the firemen in time for Memorial Day 2026 and the upcoming Historic Robeson Flag Day celebration on June 14, 2026.
Linda Scoggin, Lieutenant Troy Lambert, Jonathan Cox, Fireman 3, Cole Butler, Fireman 1 of Lumberton Fire Department Station 1, Battalion 1 and Ron Brown assisted in the repair and the flag raising. Historic Robeson thanks the Lumberton Fire Department and Fire Chief Christopher West.
The Fire Department's scheduled meeting at the Proctor Garden was interrupted by an active fire on Fifth Street. After taking care of the fire the firemen came to the Proctor with their 101 foot ladder truck to handle the flag before returning to the station. Historic Robeson thanks our Lumberton Fire Department for their service.
