The Parkland Parklet

The Parkland Parklet Turning an alley into a garden, park and community gallery Louisville KY 502

🌹 The Roses That Grow in the Dark 🌹

There are roses growing in the Parkland Parklet
that don’t ask for much.

Not a perfect garden.
Not endless sunshine.
Not even a place without shade.

They simply bloom
where they were planted.

Day after day,
they reach through the shadows
and give us something beautiful.

I pick these roses sometimes,
and I can’t help but think…

How ironic that some of the most beautiful things growing here
are the things that learned how to bloom in the dark. 🌹

Maybe that’s the lesson of the Parkland Parklet.

You don’t always need perfect conditions to become something beautiful.

Sometimes,
you just need to keep growing. ❤️

I just wanted to share something positive and peaceful. I haven’t had to plan any group cleanups lately because they don’t dump anymore. It’s been two months since I’ve had to report any illegal dumping.

🌟 A FIRST FOR PARKLAND PARKLET! 🌟

I’m so grateful to have been invited to table at the African American Heritage Foundation’s Community Kickoff! This was a special moment because it was the first-ever Parkland Parklet resource table! 🌱💚

I met two wonderful ladies from Russell Place of Promise and connected with my friend Brittany Griffin of Black A*z Camping & Junior Black Campers.

BIG congratulations to Brittany on launching the only Black outdoors magazine! 🏕️📖 I’m also honored to have been featured in it!

And congratulations to SteVon Edwards, the new Executive Director of the African American Heritage Foundation, on hosting such a wonderful event. ❤️

Thank you to the African American Heritage Foundation for inviting Parkland Parklet to be part of this special day. This is just the beginning! 🌱

This project is about building community without creating barriers for the people who already live here.
There’s room for everyone. We just have to build it the right way. 🌱🎨❤️

Today I’m taking y’all on a little field trip from the original Parkland Parklet, through the alley, and down two doors to the future home of the Parkland Parklet.
I recently applied for this Land Bank property, and my dream is to transform this space into a beautiful community gathering place and art gallery. A place where we can host future events, showcase creativity, bring neighbors together, and continue growing something special right here in Parkland.
This is just the beginning… welcome to the next chapter of the Parkland Parklet! 🎨🌳✨
