history of our communities. Enjoyable not only for quilting enthusiasts, the Quilt Trails aspire to educated and provide history of the region. Each block features a quilt pattern inspired by the location where it hangs. The 'block story' is captured in the Tar & Roanoke Rivers Quilt Trail Guide to document and share the communities history. While navigating the Quilt Trails, travelers can enjoy the area’s art, history, agriculture, and scenic byways. Our Mission is to preserving the history of our communities, to promote tourism and to promote economic growth.

Margaret Hilpert Scholarship 2026 Quilt Raffle Tickets

Purchase your Quilt Raffle Tickets supporting the Margaret Hilpert 2026 Scholarship Fund.

The $1,000 scholarship is funded by raffle tickets from a donated quilt. The winner will be drawn at the Quilt Show on October 25, 2025 at Historic Person Place. Quilt Trail Quilters Guild donated the Pen Wheel Quilt for the 2026 scholarship.

You can purchase tickets online at www.quilttrailsenc.org. Click Pen Wheel Quilt view and purchase tickets or contact Ellen Queen at [email protected]. You may also mail a check to Quilt Trails of the Tar & Roanoke Rivers, P.O. Box 758, Louisburg, NC 27549. Tickets are mailed within 3 days of purchase.

2025 MARGARET HILPERT SCHOLARSHIP - Quilt Trails of the Tar & Roanoke Rivers will announce the 2025 Margaret Hilpert Scholarship recipient on May 1, 2025. Beverly Wilson donated the Chevron Quilt for the 2025 Scholarship.

Margaret Hilpert Scholarship Fund
Kicked off 2025 Quilt Raffle Sales yesterday at Uncle Eli’s Quilting Party in Graham NC. This was my first time and Uncle Eli’s. Awesome people and sooo many beautiful quilts. Thank you, JoAnne Wilson for your help making this possible. We sold 94 tickets and raised $174.

Margaret Hilpert Scholarship Contest

Quilt Trails of the Tar & Roanoke Rivers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, looking to award a North Carolina high school senior the Margaret Hilpert Scholarship ($1,000). To be considered for the scholarship, you must be a high school senior in one of the counties hosting Quilt Trails of the Tar & Roanoke Rivers quilt blocks (Franklin, Granville, Martin, Nash, Pitt, Granville or Wake Counties), have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be pursuing undergraduate studies after graduation at a university or community college. You must provide your high school’s name and teacher’s or counselor's information for verification.
To apply, submit a 500-word essay on the Importance of Local Community History. Go to www.quilttrailsenc.org for complete scholarship information.
