Is history wrong about when civilization began? 🏛️🌊
Off the coast of Japan lies an underwater enigma that has divided scientists for decades: The Yonaguni Monument.
Discovered by a local diver in 1987, this massive sandstone formation features perfect right angles, straight walls, and what appear to be carved steps and pillars. It looks like a sunken city.
THE DEBATE:
Geologists argue it's a natural formation, created by strong currents and tectonic activity over millennia.
But archaeologists and alternative historians point to features that nature doesn't create: precise corners, twin megaliths, and what look like postholes for wooden structures (Slide 2).
If it is man-made, it would have been built when the area was above sea level—during the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. That would make it older than the Pyramids of Giza by thousands of years, rewriting human history.

​In 1936, archaeologists near Baghdad unearthed something that shouldn't exist. It wasn't gold or jewels, but a simple 6-inch clay pot dating back over 2,000 years (around 250 BCE).
​Inside the pot was a copper cylinder, and inside that, an iron rod held in place by asphalt.
