On this day in 2011, NASA officially transferred the title and ownership of space shuttle Endeavour to the California Science Center. 🚀

Former NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden walks down memory lane with us as he shares how the Science Center was selected to receive Endeavour and what it was like to see the space shuttle for the first time since it arrived at the museum in October 2012.

📆 3 Years Ago 📆 Our Solid Rocket Motors' traveled home to the California Science Center! 🚀

The SRMs were the final space shuttle element to arrive at the Science Center in the lead up to the historic Go For Stack process to stack Endeavour in launch configuration.

The SRMs comprise the largest part of the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs). During the space shuttle program, twin 15-story reusable SRBs would work with the space shuttle main engine to ignite and produce more than 6-million pounds of thrust—the majority of what was needed to lift a shuttle off the launch pad.
