🚨Join us this Saturday (2.11) from 3-4pm for Helen Cammock and Roshanak Kheshti Opening Performance.

On opening day of "Helen Cammock: I Will Keep My Soul" at Art + Practice—the North American debut of the UK-based, Turner Award-winning artist—experience a live musical performance by and Roshanak Kheshti, UC Berkeley Associate Professor of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies. The exhibition’s two-channel film, performance piece, poetry, and print series draw from Cammock’s research in the archives of the Amistad Research Center (New Orleans) about artist Elizabeth Catlett’s struggle for agency, creative autonomy, and support throughout her 1976 commission for the Louis Armstrong sculpture in New Orleans’s Armstrong Park.

🚨 Did you know that Art + Practice has a three-part mission that supports the local needs of transition-age foster youth, addresses the educational needs of children impacted by displacement worldwide, and provides South Los Angeles with free access to museum-curated contemporary art? We work with three dedicated collaborators to make our mission possible, and one of those collaborators is .

PILAglobal provides high quality education for refugee and displaced children and families worldwide by establishing "Nests" – culturally responsive, play-based early education programs and centers of support for those in need. In collaboration with partner organizations, PILAglobal establishes schools and parenting programs in refugee camps, migrant shelters, and communities experiencing extreme poverty. These Nests are in Mexico, Greece, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe.

🚨 This is the last week to see our fall exhibitions before they close on Saturday, January 21!

’s exhibition is a three-channel film installation that asks how the scream, moan, and melisma—also known as the vocal run— provide a sonic route toward Black environmentalism.

"Chloë Bass | : Hindsight for a Future America" includes photography and text-based art plus a public sculpture coming later this year, which culminates ’s ongoing project, , for which she captured images of cloudless blue skies in an effort to mark time in the lead up to the 2016 US presidential election.

"Thaddeus Mosley: Forest" is a display of five (5) incredible wood sculptures in which by only 'using a mallet, chisel, and masterful joinery techniques, Mosley, largely self-taught, reworks felled timber from local sawmills into monumental biomorphic expressions inspired by ancient and modern cultures from around the world,' as noted on our website.
