TBT: July 2018, release event for my first book, TERROR IN THE DESERT: DARK CINEMA OF THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST, at West Hollywood's famous Book Soup on the Sunset Strip. It was a scorching hot that day (kind of like it is now!). Launching TERROR IN THE DESERT at Book Soup was meaningful to me, as my first time in the store was in 1996, when it was used as a location for KISS THE GIRLS. They kept the store open during the shoot and I bought a few books that night.

TBT: 29 summers ago, I got the chance to work on a Full Moon movie in Romania directed by Jeff Burr. It was my first time out of the US and I knew it would be a unique experience. What I didn't know is that I would meet my future wife, Josephina, on the set (a Western town built in the middle of a forest). She was in her third year of film school and I was a recent film school grad, and we had plenty in common.

It's always been a dream of ours to make a movie in Romania, and after lots of false starts, we finally made TRANSYLVANIA TAPES last year. And in less than week, on August 16, the movie will be playing at the FULL MOON FILM FEST in Transylvania. Definitely feels like a full circle...or full moon...moment.

NEW FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Excited to announce that TRANSYLVANIA TAPES has been selected to screen at Festivalul de Film Lună Plină ("The Full Moon Film Festival"), held between August 14-16 in Biertan, Romania.
This festival is especially cool - and meaningful - for us because Josephina and I first met on a "Full Moon" film set in Romania nearly 20 years ago. It's been a personal dream of ours to not only make a movie in Romania, but have it play in Josephina's home country.

This is a very cool festival with many outdoor screenings, along with other activities, held within the walls of an old Transylvanian fortified church. It's the perfect way to see TRANSYLVANIA TAPES since much of the movie was filmed just 30 miles away!

Exact screening dates and times coming soon. I hope some of our Romanian friends will have a chance to attend this unique filmgoing experience.

TBT: Thirty years ago, I had my first experience working on a movie set. I was a production assistant on KISS THE GIRLS, shot all over L.A. and at the Paramount lot in the summer of '96. This photo was taken inside the underground lair set, a two-story construction that took up most of one soundstage. Cary Elwes loved my EXORCIST t-shirt.
