🐾 Happy National Dog Day! In honor of National Dog Day, we’re sharing a few cherished photos of Beatrice Hover’s beloved dog, Teddy. Beatrice had a deep love for all of her farm animals, but her dogs held a special place in her heart. Teddy was one of two dogs known to be part of the Hover family. The other was Peter Pan—and he sounds like he was quite the character! Unfortunately, we don’t have a photograph of Peter Pan, but we do know he had a serious sense of adventure. He would regularly wander 3–5 miles from the Hover Farm into Longmont, making spontaneous visits around town. Mr. Hover would often hear from locals who had spotted Peter Pan out on one of his adventures. We may not have a picture of Peter Pan, but stories like this give us a wonderful glimpse into the personalities of the people—and animals—who were part of the Hover family.

Photo on right: Beatrice Hover is featured in the center. Other girls are Lois Flanders Noble, Lottie Hall, Neva Hard Merideth, Elise Mantor Cogg, Eleanor Oviatt Howell, and Crystal Titler Packer. Beatrice's dog Teddy also joined the rest of the group.

What a great glimpse into the early days of the Boulder County Fair!

This photo, taken sometime between 1920 and 1940, shows Charles Lewis Hover standing proudly in front of an impressive grain display at the Boulder County Fair, held at Roosevelt Park in Longmont.

From the carefully arranged grains and flowers to the American flags hanging overhead, fair exhibits like this were a chance for local farmers and families to showcase what they were growing and producing right here in our community.

More than 100 years later, the Boulder County Fair continues to bring our agricultural community together. We love being able to look back at photos like this and see just how deep those roots run.

Not only did we have the privilege of serving as the Grand Marshals of this year's Boulder County Fair parade--but we're also thrilled to share that we took home 1st Place in the "Celebrating History"!🏆

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us, cheered us on, and helped make this year's parade such a memorable experience. We're grateful to be part of a community that values its history. ♥

What an incredible honor it was to serve as the 2026 Grand Marshals of the Boulder County Fair Parade this past Saturday! ❤️
A heartfelt thank you to the Kiwanis Of Longmont Colorado for this special honor and for organizing such a fun and beloved community tradition. Although only a portion of our volunteers participated in the parade, this recognition belongs to every volunteer of SVHS. Each of you plays an important role in preserving our community's history, and we are so grateful for your time, talents, and dedication. This honor is a reflection of everything our volunteers accomplish together. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on the parade and celebrate with us. We are truly honored and grateful for this unforgettable recognition.
