A clip from back in October 2021 πŸ“…. When Santee River Hardwood #3 πŸš‚ arrived at Longleaf to begin its operational restoration. πŸ”§

The #3 is a standard gauge, "Heisler" geared steam locomotive. πŸš‚βš™οΈThese engines excelled in their tasks which mostly included logging πŸͺ΅ because they could go many places other locomotives could not.

Progress is still moving forward on its completion. Here is to hoping that we will see operating steam back in the state of Louisiana πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ someday soon! 🀞

Welcome back to ! πŸš‚πŸ’

▢️ This Week: Tucker found this during the last work session. This one might be tricky! It is an early 20th century version of something you use everyday. It has a metal tank with brass piping and a float.

Lumbering was huge, but Naval Stores or turpentining was a significant part of the monetary equation that made lumbering in the South so profitable.

This week on πŸš‚πŸ’ we're talking about... nothing!

We wanted to put this post out to state that for the summer β˜€, Think about it Thursday (TaiT for short), will be on a bi-weekly schedule. πŸ—“ The regular weekly schedule will return near the end of summer.

This is to give our small media team of volunteers a bit less work load πŸ’ͺwhile still putting out the best we can. Tune in next week for the next edition of Think About it Thursday!

And since you've read all the way down here, I might as well tell ya'll last weeks item. It's the engineer side eccentric crank on RR&G #106!πŸš‚πŸ˜‰
