Step back into the 19th-century for a day of heritage and fun at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center, Maine’s oldest living history farm and museum – an oasis from modern times! For an enchanted experience and to get inspired about life in 19th-century Maine and Livermore’s celebrated Washburn Family – visit the Norlands – where history comes to life! All programs are presented by costumed interpreters who use third and first person interpretation techniques to portray real people who lived in the Norlands’ neighborhood in the 1800s.

It takes about four apples to make a single 8oz cup of c***r, but you must squeeze out every drop! Try it out for yourself at Haunted Harvest at the Norlands. This event is free to attend with some activities that require a small fee. Enjoy free apple c***r, courtesy of Berry Fruit Farms, and try your hand at a c***r press using apples from Boothby Orchard.

Interested in volunteering at the Norlands? Haunted Harvest is a great place to start! Give back to your community this Halloween by playing games and making crafts with neighbors. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween costumes for this event, but if you don't have one, our volunteer lounge has a full costume closet filled with 19th century outfits to borrow. Are the sheep being ghosts for Haunted Harvest? They haven’t decided yet, but our new Icelandic ram, Ragnar certainly looks like it! We are excited to welcome him to our farm family. With him joining the herd, we’ll soon have beautiful white wool in the gift shop and maybe even lambs in the spring!

Come meet him at Haunted Harvest on October 31 from 10:30am to 4pm, on a site tour or even a field trip.

THANK YOU, Dan, Sue, Carolyn, and Shelly for helping out with cleaning at the Norlands on such a beautiful day yesterday! We tackled several buildings and made them sparkle. October is a busy month at the Norlands, so having an extra set of hands for chores like this is invaluable.

Haunted Harvest at the Norlands will be on Halloween Day, Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. In addition to new games and crafts, we will have an area for our Billie Gammon Scholarship! For a small additional fee, play games and win special prizes. These proceeds go to one or more local graduating high school students planning to attend college.

Calling All Volunteers! The Norlands is hosting a Cleaning Day this Saturday, October 3rd from 10am - 2pm. We are preparing for our fall season and would be grateful for your help getting our buildings ready. Tasks consist of dusting, vacuuming, and sweeping. Lunch will be provided: Chili, cornbread, refreshments, and a sweet treat. If you would like to participate or have questions, please email April at [email protected] by Friday. It was great to see so many people at the Apple Pumpkin Festival this past Saturday in Livermore Falls! The day turned out to be absolutely beautiful and we had so much fun playing games with our community members. A big thank you to the JLLF Chamber of Commerce for having us and we look forward to attending next year.

Due to the severe weather forecast for the weekend, we have made the decision to cancel our Saturday, September 26th dinner and move it to Saturday, October 3rd.
